FAQs for TWT Indoor Duathlon

Sunday April 19, 2026

Location:

Glenview Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Avenue, Glenview, IL 60026

Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your wave time. Check in at our Expo in the Park Center lobby. You will be body marked with your number and can pick up your event items. There will be some refreshments at the Expo in the Park Center lobby (prior years we’ve had bagels, bananas and coffee).

There is a locker room before the aquatics center that you can use for your belongings. Please bring a lock.

Find this on your event confirmation email. You will also receive an email confirmation during the weeks prior to the Indoor Tri.  You can request to switch waves times by emailing info@togetherwetri.com and if space allows, we are happy to accommodate

TWT Indoor Duathlon takes 45 minutes to complete. The time intervals are: 20-minute bike (on spin bikes) and 20-minute run (indoor track). You will have a 5-minute transition between bike and run portion.

Bike 20 min ⇨ T2 5 min ⇨ Run 20 min (=45 min)

For Double and Triple participants – after you complete your one-hour wave, you will have 15 minutes before your next wave.  There are refreshments at the Expo to re-fuel.

E.g. Double Wave 7:00 am & 8:00 am looks like this: 7:00-7:45 am is your first wave, then you have 15 min to recover and get back to the spin room for your second wave 8:00 am-8:45 am. Triple? Add another 15 min to recover and start again at 9:00 am.

Bike – The spin bikes will be located upstairs at the entrance to the indoor track. These are Stages Indoor Cycling bikes that use SPD pedals. They also have cages to strap in gym shoes alternatively. Arrive to the bike portion with a few minutes to spare to adjust the fit of the bike; our coaches will be available to help.

Run – The run/jog/walk portion is upstairs on the ⅛ mile indoor track that overlooks the gym area and has windows to look outside over Lake Glenview.

Headphones are allowed during the bike and run portions of the triathlon.

Please bring your bike shoes (bikes are SPD compatible), running shoes, water and maybe towel with you. The bike area will serve as the transition area before the run.

All participants will be on the new Stages indoor cycling bike used in the fitness center spin class. Before your wave begins, participants can adjust and position the bike for their size and comfort. There will be volunteers to help with the adjustment if necessary. Pedals are dual sided – one can wear normal running shoes and strap into place or clip in with bicycle shoes (SPD compatible). Please remember to bring your running shoes with you to the bike as you have only 5 minutes before the run portion.

All bikes have a power console. The wattage is recorded and converted into distance and is weighted to simulate an actual triathlon as the bike portion is the longest distance in an actual triathlon. You should remain on the bike during the bike portion, as time is also a factor in calculations.

Athletes can set his or her resistance at a level comfortable to them. Please keep in mind that higher resistance gives you an increased number of watts (and watts are used in calculating bike distance as described above). Also keep in mind that injuries can occur if you spin too fast – please set the tension at a level that is safe and comfortable based on your experience.

The run portion is 15 minutes. A volunteer is assigned to each athlete and will count your number of laps. The track is 1/8th mile long, and is further marked into 1/8th sub-portions (1/64th mile) with balloon markers. Volunteers record these as hash marks by counting how many balloon markers you have passed beyond the last full lap. This will be added to the total distance. and each lap has

Yes to both questions.  Children must be at least 9 years or older to participate. We can seed you in the same waves and next to each on the bikes if you like. Email info@togetherwetri.com to confirm these requests.

Yes but space is a little tight. We can guide you on race day or email info@togetherwetri.com for more info. The bike portion is not spacious but spectators can take a peak at athletes from the entrance to the bike area. The track has pockets of space in the corners with benches and windows; spectators can station themselves in those areas but there is NO exit once a wave has started. Track will be used 20 min on, then 10 off throughout the whole race. We ask that you ask for guidance from the nearest coach for when it is safe to enter/leave a spectating area so as not to disrupt our racers. Thank you!!

Please visit the Expo and our Sponsors tables. There is food and drinks plus Sponsors may offer massages or free goody items. Prior years we’ve had bagels and cream cheese, bananas, coffee and water. The Expo runs from 8:00 am – 1:00pm. We appreciate your engagement with the Expo. Our Sponsors support is pivotal to our ability to host such a great event year after year. Come grab a bagel and say hi!
